In order for my product to be successful in being yet durable and affordable with simple cheap and recyclable materials, research had to be done first. This part was quite time consuming as I had to figure out which materials would able to withstand wind, and water (Rain) but also be a material that has been recycled and still something I am able to collect within the city. I had looked at many different options such as bamboo, hard thick cardboard, rubber...
After this step, was then about collecting materials. I had first started to look around the house, such as materials from the kitchen (Unwanted boxes..), then I started reaching out to few friends to ask for any objects that they did not want anymore. In which I obtained quite a few such as cotton pads (Which were used as bed covers). The final location was then around the community where I was able to find bicycle scraps in which I made a table out of. I found that this step was very amusing as it required lots of creativity and this was what sparked lots of ideas in my mind.
The next came the creation of the house. In order to make things a lot easier I had already planned out the measurements of the doors walls and furniture which only left me to draw, cut and glue them. In order to make sure I had finished everything on time, I had set timed deadlines for myself. Use this as a tip for future assignments! :) After cutting out the furniture I got paintbrushes and painted the walls yellow in the living room, and black and blue in the style of "Starry Night". I would consider this another fun and creative aspect of the creation. The final step in creating was assembling all the pieces together with a hot glue gun and taping the house to make it waterproof. Another tip: Make sure to be careful when using one to not burn yourself!
The last left to do was then to test my product. In order to do this I had tested with water and wind. In conclusion, I would say the house was able to withstand most of the water however little of the paint pieces did come off, and it was not able to hold against the full capacity of the fan. This was because it was made of cardboard and it is a very lightweight material.
